the joy and agony of technology...

Okay...I am really loving the new Epic smartphone and it became an epic pain in regards to my list of contacts.  All the phone numbers were transferred over...so I thought.  I then discovered the postal addresses did not make it over.  I think, no biggie, I can just enter them.

I enrolled my niece to see if she might be able to figure out how to move my contacts as she is much more tech savvy than her lame aunt...and...she has the same phone which I knew would come in handy, already has.  No luck with the addresses, but she was able to move the emails...huge, huge help.  Thanks, Jen!  Through all of this, what she discovered is both the contacts and calendar are stored in the "phone" and if I want to have all my contacts/calendar backed up continually, which I most definitely do, it all needs to reside in gmail.

What did that mean to me you ask?  I had to add every single contact to the gmail account.  As a result, I now had two "linked contacts" for nearly everyone on the Epic - one connected to "phone" and one to my gmail account.  So...I then proceeded to delete each and every contact from the "phone" one by one.  Can anyone say, "Just shoot me"?!  Seriously, I was about ready to loose my mind!  It was beyond tedious and took hours and hours but I finally completed the task...woo, hoo!

Now the next thing I need to figure out is how to cut and paste from one email to another.  The joy continues...

it's a new year and a phone upgrade was in order...

...and an upgrade I got...the choice...the epic. I went from this Palm Treo which served me well:

to this:

I was initially a fish out of water with the basic functioning of the phone but once I got the hang of it...all good. My biggest mission was to get all my emails set up and after that, the rest would be fluff. Well...I'm kind of liking the fluff...and the apps...who knew? I can tell you NOT me! This is a whole new world and a fun one at that.

Here's to a fantastic 2011!

the women's conference 2010...

...i was unable to attend this extraordinary event this year. as it was going on, i was so yearning to be there, to be a part of it, around all that energy and inspiration. it really was an experience of a lifetime last year and obviously this year was no different.

they know there is such demand to be there as it sells out immediately. as a result, they streamed most of the event live and also posted the videos on their site post show so anyone that is interested can part take. I have watched several of the speeches and the following are definitely worth the watch...so inspiring and moving.

maria shriver

eve ensler
t
he minerva awards - particularly when maria introduces oprah through the end where sarah mclachlan sings out the close the conference.

this was maria's last year at the helm of this event. let's hope it continues.

3 generations sporting their girltrunks...

...on a family-beach vacation to celebrate a 50th anniversary. now...how cool is that?!
to me, as the creator of this product, it is beyond cool - to have a grandmother, daughter-in-law and college-freshman granddaughter all looking great, comfortable and age appropriate in their girltrunks. gotta love it...i know i sure do!

thanks for sending the photo. we'd love to see more photos of people in their girltrunks so please send them our way.

roasted tomatoes

as summer came to a close, i made my way to rittman, oh for the last batch of peaches at bauman orchards and then stopped at rittman orchards where i came across this peck of heirloom tomotoes on their "seconds" table. believe me, there was nothing seconds about these and you won't believe what they cost...$5...seriously. now how crazy is that?!

after a visit to my friend
jodi's where she served roasted tomatoes from her garden, i was inspired to roast some myself. it could not have been easier. here is the "recipe share" from her blog. four packed cookie sheets later...

and this was the result...

they were crazy, crazy good and i thought for sure the peck would yeild enough to freeze some but not so much on that one. this shall become an annual thing and next year i will definitely make sure to roast enough to freeze.
